Kentucky Correctional Industries (KCI) is a self-supporting division of the Kentucky Department of Corrections under the Justice Cabinet that employs hundreds of inmates in the production of goods and services in Kentucky s major penal institutions. KCI receives no appropriated tax monies and generates all operating funds and expansion capital out of KCI profits. KCI incurs all the normal operating expenses, such as utilities, salaries, equipment replacement, etc., that any private sector company would incur. Each purchase that you make from KCI helps reduce the amount of tax dollars required from taxpayers. By making their purchases of office furnishings (and many other products) from KCI, agencies help keep needed revenues recycling internally within the state budget. This assists in the prevention of raising the tax burden placed upon the citizens of the Commonwealth. |
