The Data Entry Unit at the Luther Luckett Correctional Complex began offering low-cost, digital mapping services in 2001. In the beginning, the Kentucky Revenue Cabinet was instrumental in arranging for Data Entry to help PVAs modernize their mapping resources with our economical service. A pilot project enabled 14 Kentucky counties to begin using a Geographic Information System to better serve property owners. With our state-of-the-art technology, the quality and accuracy in identifying specific parcels, as well as property boundaries, far surpasses any method ever used by PVAs in the past. In addition to parcel mapping, a Geographic Information System can have numerous map layers which overlay one another and share common x,y coordinates on the national State Plane Coordinate System. Layers can be incorporated for zoning maps, school districts, elections precincts, water and sewer networks, and many other purposes. The more agencies from your community that share your GIS, the greater the return on your investment will be. For any government agency still using paper maps, we can assist you with converting optically scanned images of your maps to a digital format for your GIS. Our specially trained staff works hard to provide fast turnaround for every customer. The most remarkable benefits to local governments are the cost savings associated with retrieving information, assimilating data from various sources, analyzing complicated issues, and producing useful maps for any unique situation. An equally important benefit is the improved level of service that will be provided your citizens. Because this service functions as a job training program for the residents of Luther Luckett, the cost to local governments is far less than fees charges by the private sector. Make plans now to join the growing number of agencies that have already taken advantage of this tremendous opportunity. |
