Our Mission:  The business of KCI is based upon the value of a productive life.  Through their employment, inmates are trained to produce quality goods and services as they gain marketable job skills and a positive work ethic.  This benefits the citizens of Kentucky by reducing the number of repeat offenses, decreasing the tax burden and the lowering the Commonwealth's resource commitment for maintaining the prison system.

(KCI) is a self-supporting division of the Kentucky Department of Corrections under the Justice Cabinet.  KCI receives no appropriated tax monies and generate all operating funds and expansion capital from profits, just like any private company.
